Casimiro “Miro” Yadao Carpio, 79, of Kapaau died Aug. 23 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, Philippines, he was a retired housekeeper for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, worked for Island Harvest, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Kohala Kumiai. All-night vigil from 4 p.m. Friday (Sept. 11) at family home, 54-367 Union Mill Rd., Kapaau. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 12) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hawi. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Albert Carpio of Texas and Jose (Shirley) Carpio of Waimea; daughters, Lucilla (Gary) Rositano of San Francisco, Leila (Patrick) Kehoe of Oregon and Catherine (Randy) Furukado of Kohala; daughter-in-law, Nancy Carpio of California; brothers, Saturnino (Elisa) Carpio of Hawi, Simplicio (Loretta) Carpio of Waimea and Arsie (Ellen) Carpio of Pepeekeo; sister-in-law, Felina Llapitan of Honolulu; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Joshua Tidwell, 29, of Honokaa died Sept. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a butcher and assistant chef. Visitation 11 a.m. noon Saturday (Sept. 12) at Salvation Army, 45-511 Rickard Pl. Honokaa. Celebration of life service at noon. Survived by mother, Cindy Tidwell of Waimea; father, Joe Alves of Hilo; hanai father, Chris (Nani) Rodrigues of Ahualoa; sisters, Jessica Tidwell of Waimea, Jodee Alves, Jaysha Alves and Jasmine Alves of Hawaii; brothers, Joshua Alves, Herbert Alves and Joseph Alves of Hilo, Kamuela Lorenzo of Honokaa; an uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. James “Fuzzy” Takaaki Marumoto, 82, of Hilo died Aug. 14 at home. Born in Kapapala, Ka‘u, he was the retired owner of Truck &Trailer Service in Hilo, member of The Holy Christian Church and a U.S. military veteran.
